First day of preschool!

Zachary started preschool the day after Labor Day!
We are so proud of you, my sweet darling Zachary. We pray that you study hard and work hard at whatever you do. We love you little man :-))))

Beautiful wooden "Sattelschlepper" (semi-trailer) from Ulla and Manfred) and day at the aquarium

Ulla, my amazing German teacher and her husband Manfred, sent Zachary this beautiful "Sattelschlepper" or semi-trailer truck all the way from Germany.  Zachary of course loved it and immediately started making the appropriate sounds for the truck driving along and then stopping at the red light. Really great German design. I loved how simple the design was: it allows for the child to develop their imagination, rather than be bogged down by bells and whistles.

Yesterday, our family went to the Virginia Aquarium, where Zachary wanted to see the Tomistoma (cross between an alligator and crocodile). The fact that Zachary remembered the name of this really unusual reptile really surprised us! We had fun and enjoyed watching the pirate ship ward off the other pirate "attackers". One of those "you had to be there" moments :-)

I am now sitting on our front porch, watching my Z men do some yard work.

Hope you enjoy the pics! Have a great week :-)

Airport Cafe

Today my two Z men took me out for a date at a local airport cafe. The airport is this small, regional airport, featuring a lot of cool, small aircraft and an awesome restaurant! Zachary had fun explaining that planes "taxi" on the taxiway and that planes take off and land on the runway. His vocabulary astounds me every day! He and dadda put his toddler bed (his "big boy" bed) together this afternoon. I have him a bath and Zev is reading him a book right now. I'm praying that he'll stay in his bed all night!
* Update to Zachary's first night in his toddler bed: didn't go so good at first. He kept getting out and running out, but just like Supernanny recommends, I silently kept putting him back into his bed. And then daddy took over. He's sleeping right now which is awesome! Hopefully tomorrow night will be easier :-)

End of summer (almost :-))

Hi guys :-)

I can't believe that the last post was in June! This summer has flown by. I'm sorry for not posting earlier: it's been a mixture of being FATIGUED (cancer fatigue is real and seemingly unending) and also being caught up in spending fun time with Zev and Zachary. Boy has Zachary grown! He is such a little man, full of funny little sentences and developing a really cute personality. He likes to shake hands with everyone he meets and has learnt how to climb out I his crib! Yikes! Daddy and son will work on the toddler bed this weekend.

We've had some fun guests these past few weeks: Hans and Gena came all the way from Miami for a week and I spent some great time with Gena. We also went to upstate NY to visit Zev's family. I think Zachary really enjoyed all the attention, especially since he is pretty much the baby in the family! He really enjoyed feeding Grandma Judy's chickens and 4-wheeling with dadda in the woods behind the house where he grew up.

Enjoy the pics :-)
